The Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) granted the University of Havana the status of alternative headquarters, one more initiative to promote scientific development, innovation and inter-institutional collaboration in the country, according to the Prensa Latina Agency.
This was confirmed by the president of the ACC, Luis Velázquez, who, in the act of presenting the certificate in a ceremony in the Aula Magna of said university, highlighted that this study center constantly demonstrates its leading role in higher education with successes in the field of scientific production and the training of human resources.
«This alliance will strengthen the impact of Cuban science for the benefit of society and represents a unique opportunity to promote interdisciplinary research, the formation of human capital, the recognition of our academics and science professionals and the dissemination of scientific knowledge,» said Nancy Pavón Fuentes, secretary of the ACC, at the ceremony.
Miriam Nicado García, rector of the University of Havana, received the distinction yesterday from Luis Velázquez, joining other centers such as the Hermanos Amejeiras Clinical Surgical Hospital as the first to receive the designation of alternative headquarters of the ACC.
