The First Secretary of the Party in the province, Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, met with directors and workers of the Villa Clara Science and Technology Park, and with those participating in the construction of the Batalla de Santa Clara Photovoltaic Solar Park.
To follow up on priority areas such as science, energy, and technological innovation, Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and First Secretary in the territory, toured sites of social impact for Villa Clara.
Through dialogues with workers, observations, and proposals, the highest political authority in the province confirmed the processes currently underway to benefit the population.
As his first visit to the Villa Clara Science and Technology Park, he engaged in a dialogue with the community, focusing on the center’s achievements and its projections for expansion and research. Along with a group of young people, Edelys Saavedra Rodríguez, president of this space, spoke with the first secretary about the progress of the Park’s construction work, as well as the resolution of problems related to water and connectivity.
Saavedra Rodríguez placed an important emphasis on the exchange with young people who are working with the institution to complete their diploma projects. She also discussed the prospects for the student residence on the site and the conditions for its implementation. She also added as a goal the creation of a permanent exhibition area that would offer a glimpse of the province to all Park visitors and, at the same time, serve as a business area.
In conversation with Colina Rodríguez, the president of the center also suggested to the second phase of an intelligent building project; a high priority for the Science and Technology Park, which will motivate the development of new ideas. Regarding the realization of this goal, the director argued that it will help people interact and overcome their shyness when negotiating.
Part of the discussion was devoted to the entity’s links with local development projects and the scientific and technological support that the Park can provide in processes as necessary as food production. The benefits of artificial intelligence and relationships with the state and non-state sectors were also relevant points of the discussion.
After listening to various updates regarding the work of this innovation center, Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez encouraged the group on several aspects, such as obtaining biogas for the well-being of communities, the creation of a state-owned MSME or a non-agricultural cooperative, with the goal of marketing food, supplying the national market, achieving qualitatively superior services, exchanging experiences with municipalities, learning about local development projects, and promoting renewable energy and the circular economy. The First Secretary of the Party in the province emphasized the application of knowledge and science to improve results.
Later, the Villa Clara authority visited the construction site of the Batalla de Santa Clara Photovoltaic Solar Park, where he interacted with energy sector executives and workers to learn about the current status and expectations for the facility.
Present at the meeting, Eduardo Enrique Pérez Reyes, general manager of the Electric Company in Villa Clara, told Vanguardia that there is a project in the province for five areas designated for photovoltaic solar parks, scattered throughout this central region.
“We recently inaugurated one in Remedios, and we still have four remaining, and we are working tirelessly to advance this project. During the second half of the year, we will begin incorporating the generation of these parks into the National Electric Power System,” he said.
According to Pérez Reyes, all four have the same structure and are expected to contribute 21.8 MW to the SEN. He also clarified that they are divided into two construction projects, A and B, with the same capacity but different structural modifications in sequence.
“Two parks from Project B should be incorporated in the coming months, and those from Project A by the end of this year,” the official added.
At the close of the visit, Colina Rodríguez proposed initiatives regarding grass planting and inquired about specific issues related to the machinery and its implementation.
