
The Forest Ranger Corps, together with the Revolutionary Air Force and other organizations, are facing a large-scale fire that has caused serious damage in El Prado, a mountainous area located more than 700 meters above sea level, in the Holguin municipality of Mayarí.
As published by the Portal del Ciudadano de Mayarí, the fire started nine days ago, when the abundance of organic plant material and the impact of the drought in the last four months favored the advance of the flames, which have affected more than a thousand hectares. of forest.
Alexander Vargas Perdomo, logistics director at the Mayarí Agroforestry Company, assured the aforementioned digital media that the human and technical resources are located in the area to deal with the incident.
For his part, Reinier Ramírez González, a specialist from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in that territory, said that the hectares damaged to date have negative consequences on the flora and fauna of the place, characterized by being one of the largest coniferous reserves in the country.
