Summary

Climate change, one of the most damaging current disturbances, is often appreciated with an incomplete or erroneous vision. As part of the Coastal Resilience project in the community of Caibarién, an environmental education program is developed with the objective of providing theoretical and methodological elements for the acquisition of knowledge and the development of behaviors, lifestyles, that favor community-based adaptation. and ecosystems. In its design, analytical-synthetic theoretical methods, modeling and the systemic approach were used, complemented by empirical methods such as surveys, interviews, field visits, in addition to exchange and training workshops with the use of participatory techniques. The program is based on an initial diagnosis, structured in three subprograms: specialization, intervention and environmental culture, which are integrated with each other. Training experiences are presented with a variety of communication activities, conventional, online, community intervention and training, aimed at raising the environmental culture of the community and its adaptation. It is concluded about the good reception of the actors, the need to continue systematizing and integrating dissemination and training actions and to achieve greater protagonism on the part of the community members.
