With the restoration of normal hours last Sunday throughout the country, the National Office for the Control of the Rational Use of Energy (Onure) in the province of Santiago de Cuba will reinforce its actions in the state and residential sector to implement savings measures.
In the case of work centers, greater preparation of the human capital in charge of their control is required. To that end, during this month its professionals and technicians will gradually resume training activities in companies, establishments and workshops in the productive and service sectors.
Onure will continue with comprehensive inspections, re-control, energy reviews and attention and advice to the implementation and development of energy efficiency and conservation projects and renewable sources.
In all of the above, it is necessary to act with discipline, responsibility and self-preparation, stressed Leticia Ramos Stivens, communication specialist. This time change, he told the Cuban News Agency, implies an increase in the demand for electricity during peak hours, because it gets dark earlier and food is cooked between 5:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. 9:00 at night.
Also, she said, they will rescue the work with pioneers and educators to promote an energy culture in the population from an early age, a task that was interrupted by the epidemiological situation. She highlighted Leticia that in October the behavior of consumption in the province was favorable, with indicators below what was planned.
She insisted on maintaining what was achieved in the previous month with the increase in control or contingency actions, fundamentally for the exceptional breakdown regime that, as its name indicates, is the moment when situations occur in the National Electronnergy System (SEN ).
When they do happen, it is tried by all means to affect the population as little as possible, for which she recommended daily self-control of consumption at home and the family use the electrical energy that they really need, without affecting the quality of life.
This means turning off lights and equipment that are turned on unnecessarily, taking advantage of natural light, and doing activities such as cooking, ironing, and other off-peak hours whenever possible.
