The planets of the Solar System will be aligned in a so-called cosmic party on February 28, an unrepeatable event until 2492, specialized media highlighted. The great alignment, which began at the end of January, is a phenomenon that does not occur every year and can be observed from anywhere in the world.
The planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye as bright points of light and, in addition, the Moon, Earth’s natural satellite, will join during this week, according to National Geographic.
While Uranus and Neptune, located between Jupiter and Venus, will require binoculars to see them and will appear as diffuse points of light of a greenish blue color. The most recent planetary alignment occurred on January 21st and featured Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Venus and Saturn.
This event occurs when several celestial bodies are at a specific point in their orbit where they appear to be in line between the Earth and the Sun from the Earth’s perspective. Although the planets appear to be relatively close to each other, there are millions of kilometers between them. Each planetary alignment is unique because they depend on the movement of the planets and involve different celestial elements.
