At the Central Hotel in Santa Clara, an exchange was held with substantial debates regarding the celebration of World Food Safety Day on June 7. This is the 5th edition of the commemoration of this international date to call for an issue that has a lot to do with the health of human beings.
Even in the midst of an economic crisis, we must choose what we consume, that the places where food is sold be clean, and demand that those who make and offer these products also maintain hygiene standards.
Cuba has regulations in line with international requirements that we must comply with.
The exchange was sponsored by the Territorial Office for Standardization, whose experts insist that even with deficiencies and difficulties like the ones we are going through, it is possible to achieve the production, marketing and consumption of safe products. For this reason, three companies from Villa Clara were recognized for respecting and complying with these procedures: the Central Rum Factory, the Caibarién Industrial Fishing Company (EPICAI) and the Villa Clara Fishing Company (Pescavilla).
The América-Central tourist complex was recognized for its contribution to the exchange, and chef Nelson Santos Valcárcel, chef of that complex, explained the good practices that are applied in these centers to prepare food.
Food safety is everyone’s responsibility, from the land where food is grown, its transportation, handling, subsequent processing and sale.
If we watch what we consume, we are taking care of our health and that of our loved ones.
