Environmental education in primary education schoolchildren.

  Summary:

The environmental problems that affect the contemporary world originate from the development systems that a group of countries have assumed, based on irrational patterns of production and consumption, as well as the existence of colonial and neocolonial domination and exploitation policies. As a result, the hunger and poverty that today plagues the vast majority of humanity. The current patterns of production and consumption are causing a serious degradation of the environment and jointly a social marginalization of great masses. Cuba is not excluded from environmental problems, quite the contrary, the excessive irrational exploitation of our natural resources maintained for more than four centuries led to our main resources being affected. A political conscience prevails on the Island, which differentiates us from the rest of the countries in the world, for which there is a will to fight to preserve the achievements and social conquests achieved. At this time, teachers have programs and methodological guidelines that guide them to insert aspects related to Environmental Education into the different contents. In order to apply in this way what was stipulated in 1997 in the National Strategy for Environmental Education. This research proposes a system of activities for the treatment of environmental education in primary school.
